Issue 2 Funded Stormwater Project Relieves Flooding in Falcon Estates

Residents in the Falcon Estates near I-25 and Woodmen Road will have some welcome relief from neighborhood flooding thanks to voter support of Ballot 2 that allowed the City to retain excess sales tax revenues to fund several stormwater projects in Colorado Springs.  The City worked closely with the residents last year to identify areas that were prone to flooding and to develop a plan to address neighborhood concerns.

This two phase project installed two stormwater drainage systems in different areas in Falcon Estates to minimize street flooding from developed land upstream. Both systems will work together to collect rain water and runoff from parking lots and street inlets adjacent to businesses along Academy Blvd and Falcon Estates east of Academy and channel them back into our waterways, not our streets.
