South Cheyenne Canyon Bridge Replacement page

Planning Phase

This project is located in South Cheyenne Canyon, in southwest Colorado Springs, near the entrance to Seven Falls.

South Cheyenne Creek passes under South Cheyenne Canyon Road through an existing corrugated metal and concrete arch built in 1957. The existing structure has deteriorated and is currently load-restricted. This is the driving factor in the bridge replacement along with flow capacity.

A new structure will be placed downstream to allow traffic to continue to use the existing interchange with Mesa Avenue. The bridge construction will also have a wide pedestrian sidewalk for bike and trail use.

The construction of the new bridge is expected to limit traffic through the road will remain open through the construction period.

The Designer is Jacobs Engineering. The project will be funded with PPRTA dollars.
