Hunters Lane over Spring Run Culvert Replacement

Planning Phase

Hunters Lane in the Old Broadmoor Area is considered a minor residential street within the City of Colorado Springs.

The existing corrugated metal pipes for Spring Run Creek were placed under the street in the 1960s and are deteriorating due to corrosion of the pipe inverts. In addition, the pipes no longer meet current drainage criteria. In 2023, a two-cell concrete box culvert will be constructed to improve the drainage crossing and safety in the area.

Residents should expect the construction activity to be confined to a small work area on Hunters Lane.

Since the project is on the west side of the Colorado Springs School, the project area will include a temporary construction fence and other measures in place to address safety for students.

The project also included the replacement of an existing Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) gas line under both Hunters Lane and Old Broadmoor Rd. This utilities work was completed by CSU in fall 2022.

During the existing bridge demolition and construction of the new box culvert the construction effort will utilize the available roadway width at the crossing on Hunters Lane.  Hunters Lane will likely remain closed for a five-month construction period.  Alternative routes are suggested for both area residents and the Colorado Spring School during that time

Funding

The project will be funded with PPRTA and HUTF dollars.
